Mission: To provide positive forms of expressions that questions the contemporary African-American identity. In doing so we will encourage young people to strive toward every imaginable goal that they may have. And, by breaking the barriers that bind them, we can grow as a people and a united spiritual community. Goal: To combine resources and knowledge for the purpose of giving the theater ministries throughout the convention the opportunity to reach wider audiences in an effort to promote Christian / family entertainment in the Baltimore communities; to provide an alternative faith-based activity that engages our ideas and creativity as well as exposure to positive forms of artistic expression in the areas we serve; and most importantly, to create a platform for young developing talent, which brings together seasoned performers with this generation in an effort to promote the continued creation of new artistic works through music, drama, film and dance. Occurrence: Two weekends in each month except January. There is also a matinee for youth and community groups. This new theater will be established at the state headquarters for the United Baptist Missionary Convention for the State of Maryland, located at 940 Madison Ave. Because of our long relationship with former president William Clinton (and a recent visit by him to the center)we are naming the theater after him and our current President Dr. Matthew Lincoln Jones. The management organization is the performer’s network of Excellent Production. Excellent Production has a long standing reputation for providing quality theater in the Baltimore communities. In support of this landmark endeavor we are asking every church in Baltimore to purchase a season table. Currently we have 11 wonderful performances planned for the 2008 season. Each performance will typically have a 6 show run. The purchase of your season tickets will give 8 seats to your church to be distributed among your ministries at your discretion. For your commitment we will be discounting each ticket per performance by $5.00. The total commitment will be $880 for the 2008 season. This is a great opportunity for your church to secure their place in history in the first faith-based fine arts center. Thank you for your financial comittment to this wonderful community project.
